James Henry Becker, 82 years of age, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29 at his home in Cumming, GA.
Jim was born July 8, 1938 in De Pere, WI to Merlin and Elsie Becker. He was a 1956 graduate of De Pere High School and received his BS in 1960 from Wisconsin State College - La Crosse.
He married Marsha Campbell of Pensacola, FL in 1963 and was a proud Marine who rose to the rank of Captain and flew the F-4B Phantom during the early days of Vietnam. Jim left the Marines in 1967 and moved to Green Bay (Ashwaubenon), WI where he and Marsha raised two boys. He joined IBM where he spent 25 years as a customer-favorite Senior Marketing Representative before retiring and moving to Georgia.
Jim was involved in Pilgrim Congregational Church, enjoyed coaching youth sports, and trying to relax at the family cottage. He had a wry sense of humor that would make you laugh and groan at the same time and would talk to everyone as if they were long-time friends. Jim could immediately connect with kids, loved helping others, and selflessly spent the majority of his retirement taking care of family members who could no longer fully care for themselves.
He is survived by his son Robert C. Becker, his wife Elizabeth and their children Emily, Carson, and Cole (Cumming, GA); son Mark M. Becker and his children Justice, Landon, and Graham (De Pere, WI); his sister Sharon Josephs (Green Bay, WI); and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming, GA with visitation on February 12, 2021 from 11:15-12:00 followed by a graveside service at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA where he will join his wife Marsha who passed away in May 2018 after 55 years of marriage.
