After graduation, Jimmy served as a captain in the United States Army Reserves and was stationed at Fort Benning, GA. Prior to retiring to Columbia, SC to be near his grandchildren, he had a successful career at the Life of Georgia Insurance Company in Atlanta, GA.
Jimmy loved spending time at the beach and lake. He was an avid gardener and could make anything grow. Jimmy had a love for animals and was always bringing stray dogs and cats home to his children.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Cissy” Haywood Jackson, son, James Holman Jackson, Jr., sister, Felicia Jackson Burns and brother, Jesse DeCausta Jackson. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Felicia Jackson Freeman & Jeffrey Craig Freeman, Jr., grandchildren, Jeffrey “Jay” Craig Freeman, III, Connor James Freeman & Olivia Plowden Freeman, brother, Felix Walton Jackson, Jr. and numerous nieces & nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Sawnee View Gardens with Rev. Elaine Scott officiating. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until the hour of service.
