Mrs. Charlotte Maria Eakins Watkins was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; she passed away February 4, 2021 at age 78.
Charlotte was born to Manley and Bertha Eakins on January 16, 1943 in Gaffney, SC. On March 14, 1963, she married her husband, Donald (Donnie) Holmes Watkins and is survived by her siblings: Kenneth Eakins, Harold Eakins, and Alice Anesgart, her and Donnie’s 3 children: Donna Bagley ( Grover), Derrick Watkins ( Kim), and Chad Watkins ( Delona) , 11 grandchildren: Chris Donovan, Michael Donovan, Skylar Donovan, Hailey Bagley, Tucker Bagley, Kelton Bagley, Logan Watkins, Ethan Watkins, Anna Grace Watkins, Sara Beth Watkins, Taylor Manning, and Timothy Manning, and 3 great grandchildren: Kimberly Donovan, Thomas Donovan, and Reed Donovan. Charlotte is survived by many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Charlotte loved cooking, traveling and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. Charlotte was funny, as sometimes she liked to seize the opportunity for telling embarrassing stories at the most importune times. However, she was an equal opportunist as she would include telling embarrassing stories about herself. She was a longtime resident of Baldwin County and member of First Baptist Church of Milledgeville, and a retired Baldwin County school teacher. She moved to Dahlonega in 2019 where she was in the middle of the North Georgia mountains that she was so fond of and took many vacations there with her family over the years.
In lieu of flowers the family asks the donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Milledgeville. Due to the pandemic the family is holding a private graveside ceremony in a family cemetery in North Carolina.
