Mrs. Mary Marvene Pittman Tatum, age 86 of Cornelia, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021, surrounded by love and family.
Born in Lula, Georgia on October 7, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Pittman; step-father, Charles and Gladys Echols Payne. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, James Hugh Tatum, and a sister Jeanette Brown.
She was the airport manager and worked alongside her husband. Together they owned and operated Habersham Aviation. Mrs. Tatum enjoyed road trips and sightseeing. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of various community organizations. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James Christopher Tatum (Jan) of Clayton; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Tatum Cook (Benny) of Cornelia; grandchildren and spouse, Greg Cook (Salina) of Macon, Pam Cook Carnes of Cornelia; great-grandchildren, K.J. Carnes, James Cook, Merrick Carnes and Grace Cook; brother and sister-in-law, Clifton Tatum (Denise) of New York; several nieces and nephews.
There are no words to express the family’s love and gratitude to Kia and Rod Gordon for their faithfulness, care and loving support provided for both parents and forever will be loved and considered to be a part of our family.
Graveside service is scheduled for 2 pm, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Terry Rice officiating. The service will be live streamed for those not able to attend on the Facebook page of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Level Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, or a charity of one’s choice.
