Mr. Dallas Van Parker, age 87 of Rivoli Point Road, Westminster, South Carolina passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Oconee Memorial Hospital.
A son of the late Van and Quilla McElroy Parker, he was born July 8, 1933 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived in Toccoa for a number of years and the last 30 years in Oconee County, South Carolina. He owned and operated Parker Trucking Company and Parker Motors in Toccoa. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Carnesville Presbyterian Church and an Elder in the church. He was a former Vice Commander of the V.F.W. and a member of the Elks Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Jim Parker and by a grandson, Dylan Parker.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Carol Steed Parker; daughter, Aleta Hawkins of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Cheryl Parker of Toccoa; grandchildren, Jamie and Tabytha Hawkins and Dexter and Kersha Parker; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Kinley and Daylan.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 31, 2021, 2 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jewell Gaines officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Jamie Hawkins, Dexter Parker, Carey Parker, Gregory Parker, Brian Kesler and Mitchell Bounds.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday from noon until the service time. Due to the health and well-being of our community, social distancing must be observed. Interment will follow in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, Carnesville, Georgia with Military Honors by the Georgia National Guard Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard.
