Mr. Marvin Gibson, age 71, of Dahlonega passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Thursday, January 21, 2021.
Marvin was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on February 13, 1949 to the late Frank W. and Lila Mae Odom Gibson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Jerry Gibson, and Wayne Gibson, and his sister Joyce Crane. Marvin was the founder and owner of Gibson Used Cars. He loved to go to the car lot every morning so he could see and talk to everyone. His once a week trip to the car auction that he loved was hindered by his declining health. Marvin loved his family and enjoyed spending his time with them.
Survivors include his children and their spouses Marty and Jill Gibson, Dawsonville, and Sonya and Dan Guzman, Arizona; brother and sister-in-law Morris and Judy Gibson, Maggie Valley, N.C.; sisters Opal and Golden Barron, Dahlonega, Brenda and Charles Ralston, Bonaire, and Debbie and Don Carder, Gainesville; grandchildren Caden Gibson, Camden Gibson, Cannon Gibson, Courtney Greer, Nate Guzman, Richard Guzman, and Tyler Guzman; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, January 25, 2021 at the funeral home.
