John Mark Mathes, 93, of Alpharetta, GA passed January 16, 2021. Born in Afton, OK to Raymond and Evelyn, he grew up in Tulsa, OK. Served in World War II in the U.S. Navy on board the light cruiser Huntington in the European Theater and was a Petty Officer in the payroll division.
He married his high school sweetheart, Ada Elizabeth Beaver on December 18, 1945 and they recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary together.
After living in Tulsa during their first years of marriage, they moved to the Kansas City area in 1963 where he held various sales and marketing management positions with consumer packaged goods manufacturers.
Known as “Mark” and “Liz”, they retired to Bella Vista, AR in 1992 and enjoyed many years of playing golf and bridge. Most recently, they relocated to Georgia to be near their only son and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Eloise. He is survived by his wife, son John and wife Karen of Alpharetta, GA along with grandchildren, Lucy and Andrew, of the Atlanta area.
Family grave side service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
