Mrs. Elizabeth Hare Benfield, age 79 of Rutledge, Georgia and formerly of Toccoa passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Morgan Memorial Hospital.
A daughter of the late Harrison and Margie Cooper Hare, she was born April 30, 1941 in Stephens County, Georgia. She had resided the greater part of her life in Toccoa where she and her husband were poultry farmers for a number of years. She moved to live with her daughter in Rutledge a number of years ago. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class where she attended faithfully until she moved to live with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, great grandson Michael Owen Compton and her husband Quinton Benfield.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Freddy Owens of Rutledge, Georgia; two sons and daughter-in-law, Teddy Benfield of Rutledge and David and Andrea Benfield of Toccoa; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Holbrooks and Velma Carswell both of Toccoa; number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 17, 2021, 3 O’clock p.m. at the Rock Creek Baptist Church with The Reverend Ken Jackson officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Matt Benfield, Drew Benfield, David Compton, Joel Baxter, Larry Holbrooks and Roger Slocum.
Interment will follow in the Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Elizabeth Hare Benfield.
