Rev. John Edward Bowen, age 73, of Clermont, GA passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 after a courageous battle with COVID.
John was born to the late Rev. Henry and Jimmie Bowen of Clermont, GA on November 3, 1947. He was one of eight sons.
John attended White County High School, Truett McConnel College, and the University of Georgia. He was a Specialist 5 Signal Operations Corp in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. The Pastor of Mossy Creek Baptist Church for 11 years.
John enriched the lives of many people through his generous heart, his joyful spirit, and his unwavering faith. He loved spending time with his family- especially their frequent beach trips together and traveling with Gail. He could often be found working in the yard, and hardly ever missed supporting his grandkids at any event. Poppy’s grandbabies were one of his greatest treasures.
John is survived by his faithful wife of 50 years, Gail F. Bowen whom he loved with his whole heart; daughter and son-in-law Jill and Chris Baumgardner; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Jackie Bowen. The absolute joys of his life were his six grandchildren- Carsen, Sydney, and Reid Baumgardner; and Jace, Carly and Claire Bowen.
John served and praised God until his last words were uttered, “I have peace, God is Good!”
