Lonnie Shields, Jr.

Lonnie Shields, Jr. was born on October 21, 1956 in Gainesville, GA to the late L.C. and the late Virginia Shields in Gainesville, GA. He departed his life on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his residence. Lonnie was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Shields.

Lonnie was a graduate of East Hall High School. Upon graduation, he served his country in the United States Army from 1977 to 1980. His passions included gardening in which he possessed the “green thumb”. Furthermore, he had a passion for fishing and cooking. Lonnie was of the Baptist faith and attended church at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Gainesville, GA.

Lonnie leaves to cherish his memories to his long-time companion, Peggy J. Brown; godson, Marvin “Doug” Brown; sister, Angela Shields; brothers, Lester (Elizabeth) Shields, Chris (Jean) Shields, and Steven (Rachel) Shields; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday January 21, 2021 at 2 pm at Dexter T Sims Mortuary, LLC in The Rev. Charlie, Jr. and Conchita Sims Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday January 21, 2021 from 2pm- 7pm.
