Mr. Harold "Dean" Harvey, age 86, of Dahlonega passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. He was born on July 20, 1934 in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late Albert Harvey and the late Ruby Wall Harvey. Dean served honorably in the US Army for 20 years. After being discharged from military service, he went to work as an aircraft mechanic for Pratt-Whitney Aircraft where he worked for another 20 years. Harold and his wife Janice retired to the Dahlonega area and have been parishioners at St. Luke's for a number of years. Harold was an active parishioner who was an usher and a guardian of the Blessed Sacrament. He participated in many parish activities such as Dinner & Doctrine programs, Bible Study, and Adult Education. Dean loved playing golf in his free time and was often working on home improvement projects, making a house a home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Harvey, and a sister, Shelia Harvey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Harvey of Dahlonega; children, Patti Harvey of California, Deniece (David) Hepler of Flowery Branch, Rene Walker of Florida, Michael (Tracey) Harvey of Dawsonville, and Michele (Paul) Wenter of Alabama; siblings, Berry Harvey, Terry Harvey, and Debora Mason; grandchildren, Jenna Harvey, Jordan Daly, Ryan Hepler, Jared Walker, Caitlin Hepler, Paul Wenter, Jr, Zachary Wenter, and Madelyn Wenter; and cousin, Sue Clinton and her daughters, Teressa and Tracey. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
A private family service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Due to COVID-19, no public services will be held.
