Troas Dee Williams

Obituary Date: Tuesday, January 12, 2021
Troas Dee Williams was born on September 19,1934 to his parents Lyman Troas and Dovie Williams, and his two older brothers, Jacque Williams and Bob Williams, in Miami, Florida. He was an observant child and loved mischief and merriment.
 
He graduated from Stetson University in Deland, Florida with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Religion, where he met the love of his life, Mary Margaret Jeffers. They were married on June 30, 1956  and were faithfully committed to each other for sixty four years. He was a loving husband. Troas enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958 and trained as a pilot. He served his country in the Navy and through the Naval Reserves for eight years.
 
Troas and Mary Margaret have three children: Karen Hutchcraft, Denise McConnell, and the late Troas Williams, Jr. He was a dedicated, steadfast father.
 
Affectionately known as Geedaddy, Troas was an extraordinary grandfather.
 
Troas was clever and intelligent in conversation and a storyteller, comedian, and moral compass wrapped in a strong hug. As a hobby, he bowled, golfed, and worked puzzles. He was a man of great conviction and courage, who loved all in his presence well.
 
He was proceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Dovie Williams, his brothers Jacque and Bob Williams, and his son, Troas Dee Williams, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret Williams of Gainesville, GA, his daughters, Karen Elizabeth Hutchcraft of Clarkesville, GA, Denise Ann McConnell (Dave McConnell) of Gainesville, GA, his grandchildren: Jessica Ann Irvin (Kale Irvin) of Demorest, GA, Lindsay Claire Sloan (Calab Sloan) of Clarkesville, GA, Heather Elizabeth McConnell of Gainesville GA, David Eric McConnell, Jr, of Raleigh, NC, and Jacob Evan McConnell of Gainesville, GA, and his great grandchildren: Annaleigh Claire, Maximus Wills, and Caius Kale Irvin of Demorest, GA, and Sam Worth Sloan of Clarkesville, GA.
 
Flowers can be sent to Little and Davenport in Gainesville, GA. Donations to Samaritan’s Purse can be made in the name of Troas Williams and our family.
 
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Dr. Tom Smiley will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 p.m.  until the funeral hour.
