Mrs. Jania L. Waugh, age 87, of Oakwood, Georgia was called home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2021. She passed away peaceably at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a period of declining health and complications of Covid-19.
A Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Rev. Brian Harrison and Rev. David E. Smith, III will officiate. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Born on August 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Beulah (Williams) and Ulysses Sparks. She married the “love of her life”, Leonard P. Waugh who passed away in 2013, after 62 years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Waugh of Oakwood, Georgia; sister-in-law, Nancy Sparks of Woodville, Ohio; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, James, Eugene, William and Douglas Sparks; and four sisters, Ariene, Betty, Barbara and Carol.
Jan Waugh was born in Oil Springs, Kentucky, but lived most of her young life in Ohio, before she and her husband moved to Georgia. Mrs. Waugh was a 1962 graduate of the Columbus School of Nursing, where she received her LPN degree and license from the state of Ohio. Her passion was caring for geriatric patients. Mrs. Waugh was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Encounter Church of God of Prophecy in Gainesville, Georgia.
