Edwin Long

Mr. Edwin Long, 97, of Winder, GA., passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow Campus.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday January 17, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Charles Shadburn will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 17, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born on June 8, 1923 in Gainesville (Hall County), he was the son of the late William Otis and Eva Benefield Long. He was a self-employed carpenter after working for General Motors for a number of years. Mr. Long was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Long is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Edwin Long; stepsons, Keith Chadwick, Dennis Chadwick; brothers, Wilmer Long, Jack Long, Burchal Long; sister, Nell Vanderford and granddaughter, Kristy Long.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 48 years, Effie Mayhue Long of Winder; daughter and son in law, Michelle Long Kemp (Robby) of Braselton; step daughter and husband, Kay Guffin (Randal) of Winder; brother, Darrell Long (Teri) of Chestnut Mountain; grandchildren, Dusty Gooch, Kai Kemp (Tiffany), Kayli Kemp Perkins, Michael Guffin (Ashley), Alanna Guffin Kilpatrick (Brian), Tracy Long, Shane Long; great grandchildren, Tiana Gooch, Hailey Kemp, Ryker Kemp, Brentley Perkins, Bayli Perkins, Brynna Perkins, Easton Guffin, Jackson Kilpatrick and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
