Benjamin (Ben) Lee Buffington age 86 of Gillsville passed to his heavenly home the morning of January 7, 2021.
Ben had several health problems and had just started under hospice care two days before. He was born January 20, 1934 to the late Leander & Lorena Gilmer Buffington. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Buffington & Abner Buffington and his first wife, Mildred Couch Buffington.
He is survived by his second wife, Jo West Buffington; children, Sandra (Marshall) Buffington Garmon, Stevie (Darlene)Buffington, Bengy (Sherrie) Buffington & Stepson, Dustin Cleveland; grandchildren & spouses, Marsha (Kevin) Garmon Holzclaw, Jamie (Tonya) Garmon, Mandy (Eric) Garmon Stewart, Brandy Buffington, Cody (MaryBeth) Buffington, Kaityn (TJ)Buffington Helton, Kourtney Buffington Jones, Blake (Ashley)Buffington, 2 step grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren & 2 step great grandchildren; sister in law, Rheba Buffington, Cecil Buffington, Barbara Couch Smith, Wilma Couch, Ruth Couch & brother in law, Donald Couch.
Ben had many hobbies of fishing, hunting but his most favorite thing was to watch the Atlanta Braves. He attended games whenever he could but never missed a game on T.V. He had a very special trip to spring training at Disney and also got to watch great grandson Luke Holtzclaw play baseball at Disney field on the same trip. Ben had traveled the World while working on installing equipment for meat factories and refrigeration. He was a jack of all trades and could figure just about everything out on his own without formal training. He was also a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 9, 2021 at the Chapel of Ward’s Funeral Home with Rev. Marshall Dale officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday January 8, 2021 at Ward’s Funeral Home.
