Elder "Bo" Harrison

Obituary Date: Thursday, January 7, 2021

Elder Harrison, affectionately known as “Uncle Bo” was born on October 8, 1940 in Selma, AL to the late Luvenia “Bean” Davis and Andrew “Jacko” Harrison. He was raised by his beloved aunt, the late Ollie Mae Harrison. Elder began his eternal journey on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

Elder attended high school in Cleveland, OH and Prattville, AL, where he graduated. After graduation he proudly served his country by joining the U.S. Navy. Upon his honorable Navy discharge, Elder moved to New York City where he met the love of his life, Virginia West. He worked on Wall Street and for General Motors before dedicating nearly 40 years of employment to the United States Postal Service, where he retired.  

Elder was a baseball aficionado his entire life. He played baseball in the Italian League in New York City where he was considered a power hitter. In retirement, he worked for the Atlanta Braves and was bestowed the “Best Ticket Taker” award. He was a fan of the LA Dodgers and it brought him great joy to see the Dodgers win the World Series in 2020. 

Elder loved to cook and would engage in discussions about his favorite dishes. He was very caring and served as a father figure to many who benefitted from his devotion and guidance. He was a gregarious man who never met a stranger. He made an impact on everyone he met and loved his family from near and far.  

Elder was preceded in death by his brothers, Phillip Steele, Louis Steele, George Steele, Charles Steele, and Benny Taylor; sisters,Evelyn Elaine Steele, Lula D. Henry, Betty Davis and Donnetta Davis. 

He is survived by his beloved son, Stacy (Leslie) Harrison andcherished granddaughter, Sanaa Harrison of Duluth, GA; brother,Ellis Davis of Cleveland, OH; sisters, Sandra Brantley of Miami, FL, Jacqueline Harrison of Charlotte, NC, Amy Potillo of Cleveland, OH, Lizzie Davis of Cleveland, OH, Eloise Davis of New York, NYand Fontella Harris of Chicago, IL; special sister Thelma (John) Robinson of Prattville, AL, special niece who was like a daughter, Alice (Enrico) Chappell of Prattville, AL; special nieces, Keisha Thorington of Cleveland, OH and Doris (David) Coleman of Atlanta, GA, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Elder "Bo" Harrison age 80 of Atlanta, GA passed away on January 7, 2021.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Murray Brothers Funeral Home Chapel between the hours of 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM.  Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Prattville Memorial Chapel and Memory Gardens, Prattville, AL at 1:00 PM.  Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
