Jackie Nelson Wimpy

Mr. Jackie Nelson Wimpy, 62, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at Landmark Hospital in Athens.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Donny Jarrard and Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Cavender’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Due to Covid-19, the family requests that everyone attending the visitation and service wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Born on March 24, 1958 in Lumpkin County, he was the son of the late Ernest Franklin and Wardye Mae Pruitt Wimpy. He was retired from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Wimpy attended Cavender’s Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, Mr. Wimpy is preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Wimpy, Roy Wimpy and Henley Wimpy.

Mr. Wimpy is survived by his wife, Donna Wimpy of Cleveland; daughter, Brittany Tyner of Gainesville; son, Seth Tyner of Gainesville; brother, Jeff Wimpy (Tracey) of Gainesville; sister, Marjorie Mason of Dahlonega; brothers, Melvin Wimpy of Dahlonega, Alan Wimpy (Elaine) of Griffin, Bud Wimpy of Dahlonega, Wiley Wimpy (Hazel) of Dahlonega; uncle, Eugene Pruitt of Dahlonega and a host of nieces and nephews.
