Lenore Maureen Bell

Obituary Date: Sunday, January 3, 2021

Mrs. Lenore Maureen Bell, age 85, of Oakwood, Georgia arrived in Heaven early in the morning of Sunday, January 3, 2021.

Her Homegoing service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, 6:00 p.m., at Maranatha Baptist Church, Oakwood, Georgia, where she had been a member.  Pastor Rod L. Bell, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Maranatha Baptist Church.  Interment will be on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, 12:00 p.m., at Woodlawn Memorial in Greenville, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Rod L. Bell, Sr.; and her daughters, Terri Lynn Bell, and Nikita “Niki” Dawn Frederick.

Lenore was born August 21, 1935 to the late Andrew Peyton and Ruth Justice in Chelyan, West Virginia.  In her youth, Lenore gave her life to Christ and purposed to serve Him and others. Her life investment was made in her family, as a strong support for her husband of over 63 years, and as a pastor’s wife, serving in ministry opportunities that took her from the hills of West Virginia to the Islands of the West Indies. Together she and her husband, Dr. Rod L. Bell, Sr. made investments all over the globe into the lives of multitudes.  From humble beginnings of ministry at “Boot Leg Corner” to the challenges of being the first lady of Tabernacle Baptist Church for nearly 37 years, Lenore gave above her ability and gave freely to all.  After leaving church ministry, the Bells’ hearts were turned toward greater global investment, with a special focus on the plains of Africa.  Because of their ministry, many have come to know Christ-- to God be all the glory and praise.  By her life, Lenore taught her children the value of forgiveness and faithfulness.

Lenore is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy Paul and Kimberly Bell of Gainesville, and Rod L. and Shari K. Bell, Jr. of Oakwood; five great-grandchildren; seven grandchildren; and sisters, Angela Halstead of Oakwood, Sandra Hoffman of Gainesville, and Aileen Toler of Gainesville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Bell Memorial Fund which funds Christian education for families needing assistance, and Maranatha Missions (Africa).  Maranatha Ministries, 5135 McEver Road, Oakwood GA 30566.
