Mrs. Betty Jean Cagle, age 80, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021.
Mrs. Cagle was born on May 24, 1940 to the late Brown Walker and the late Kate Patton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Cagle; brother, Kenneth Walker; sisters, Sue Meiler, Yvonne Garrett, and Bess Lee; as well as daughter-in-law, Ellen Cagle. Betty loved to talk to people, having never met a stranger. She deeply loved her family. Betty also loved to cook and tend to her roses. In the last several years of her life she got closer to her only living sister, in fact they were like two peas in a pod. Mrs. Cagle was affectionately known as "Nanny" to her beloved grandchildren. She was a member of Community Chapel Church.
She is survived by sons, Jimmy (Becky) Cagle of Gainesville, Roy (Sherry) Cagle, Robert (Kaye) Cagle, and Randy Cagle, all of Dahlonega; special friend, Sylvia Cagle, Dahlonega; sister, Linda Parker, Pendergrass; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Curtis and Ruth Cagle, Lula; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. David Chapman, and the Rev. Jeff Hogan will officiate. Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday and all day Wednesday at the funeral home.
