James Bowling French departed life for his heavenly home on December 31, 2020. He was born on May 18, 1938 in Bloomington, Indiana. He excelled in academics and graduated early from military school, then attended Emory University to earn his MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He went on to practice for over 45 years in the Gainesville area. He loved his profession and enjoyed providing the best care for his patients. His patients adored his caring spirit. He served his country during the Vietnam War, where he was an Air Force Captain.
He is survived by his wife, Susan French; Children: Jimmy(Lynne) French, Tricia Schmidt, Richard(Amanda) French, John Carrozza, and Anne-Michele(JOHN) Lilly. He loved spending time with his 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grand children, and was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Jerry French.
He celebrated life and had many passions, including making long lasting memories with his family. He was known for his expert skills making model airplanes, boats, and trains. He loved the water and spent his most enjoyable days captaining his boat on Lake Lanier. He will be missed by all who knew him.
