Boyd C. Stowers, 87, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday December 29, 2020 at North Georgia Assisted Living following a period of declining health.
Born January 1, 1933, Boyd lived in Lumpkin County for most of his life. For many years he owned and operated Stowers Radio and T.V. Service and Sales in Dahlonega. He also worked as a bus driver for the Lumpkin County School System and doing maintenance at the bus shop. Mr. Stowers was a founding member of Lumpkin County Bank where he served on their board of directors for many years. Boyd loved animals, especially his cat, Josephine and enjoyed maintaining his family’s farm where he raised cattle and had a large vegetable garden. A member of Harmony Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Stowers and Ruby Whelchel Stowers and brother-in-law, Gary White.
Surviving are his beloved wife of almost 66 years, Blanch Waldrip Stowers, Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Janine Stowers, Dahlonega; sister-in-law, Brenda White, Dalton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Virginia Waldrip, Gainesville, Winfred and Betty Waldrip, Ellijay; other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Gary Coffey and Rev. Steve Warren will officiate.
