Marsha Hicks James, age 75, of Springfield, Georgia formerly of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday December 23, 2020.
Mrs. James was born on September 21, 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Cecil Ray Hicks and Dora Belle Pitts Hicks. She was a member of the Hazel Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. She also volunteered for the Hub of Habersham, and was a charter member and served as the Chairman of the Republicans Women Chapter of Habersham County. Mrs. James graduated from Piedmont College, where she received her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education. She was a retired Social Studies Teacher, having taught as Riverside Military Academy. Marsha was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, G.L. "Sonny" James, Jr., of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Alan Blackwelder, of Springfield; Amie and James Dickerson, of Meldrim; daughter, Kari James, of Fort Worth, TX; sister, Leeanne Raffield, of Thompson; brother, John Hatfield, of Richmond Hill; grandchildren, Abbie Dickerson and Joshua Dickerson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the funeral home.
