Mrs. Eris Stevens Floyd, age 93, of Dahlonega, GA passed away on December 13, 2020.
Mrs. Floyd was born March 15, 1927 in Miami, FL to the late Carlton Enloe and Marie Louise Stevens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Floyd, son Jim McBurney, grandson Sam McBurney, daughter-in-law Gail McBurney, brother Carlton Stevens, sister Marie Cook, sister Gene Gould, and sister Evelyn Wilson.
A heart filled with love and generosity is just a small way to describe this beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. As a child Eris moved frequently having lived in Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Texas. She was a graduate of The University of Miami with her Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Eris had a long career in banking.
Above all Eris was a woman of great faith. She was a lifelong Presbyterian and most recently a member of Cleveland Presbyterian Church where she faithfully attended Bible study and served as a deacon. Eris lived out her faith through various clubs and organizations and served in positions from president to parliamentarian. She was a thirty-year active member of the Dahlonega Women’s Club.
Living life was what Eris loved, whether a trip in the motor home to Alaska, a hot air balloon ride, or setting her sails for a boat ride, she was ready for adventure. Family was especially important to her. Eris seemed to always be able to keep up with what was going on. She and her husband built a log home that extended to many guests that always felt her warm hospitality anytime they visited. Eris will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Missing her most will be her son and daughter-in-law Don and Debra Floyd, Acworth, GA; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Mike Madsen, Gainesville, GA; son Steven McBurney, Wheaton, IL; daughter Kay Floyd, Manassas, VA; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
