Ostena Grizzle

Mrs. Ostena Mary Grizzle, age 86, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.

Mrs. Grizzle was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on January 3, 1934 to the late Duffy and Elsie Lingerfelt Grizzle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Ray; daughter Tena Ray; sisters and brothers-in-law Dillard and Gwen Norrell, and Dena and Jewell Justus; brother and sister-in-law Clyde and Betty Grizzle; brothers Fred Grizzle, and L.D. Grizzle; brothers-in-law Robert Garrett, John Summerour, and J.W. Lee; sons-in-law Doug Loggins, and Jim Price. Mrs. Grizzle was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Grizzle loved to go on a picnic, and travel to the beach, but among her favorites was traveling to the mountains.

This world has never seen a bond any stronger between mother and daughter than what was shared between Ostena and Tena, her youngest child. As God’s ways and thoughts are always higher than ours, He chose to allow Ostena to care for Tena all of her life. He called Ostena home six days after Tena went to Heaven where they will be together forever.

Survivors include her daughter Sheryl Loggins; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Steve Timmons, both of Dahlonega; grandchildren Lisa and E.J. Geddings, Julie and Jason Fuller, Chris and Dawn Price, Jed Timmons, and Teddi and Les Brinson; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters Maxie Garrett, Blondie Summerour, and Mae Lee; brother and sister-in-law Judd and Connie Grizzle; sister-in-law Shirley Grizzle; special niece Josalin Fortner; and several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, December 28, 2020 at Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Jason Fuller will officiate.
