Stephen Jeffry “Butch” Davis, age 77 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Wednesday, December 17, 2020.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia on January 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Lloyd & Helen Hogsed Davis. Butch served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps and attended college at the University of Georgia. He enjoyed an extensive career with the railroad industry including Norfolk Southern, The Great Walton Railroad, & finally finished his run with the Canadian Pacific Railway – Soo Line Division with over 25 years of combined experience as a Locomotive Engineer. Butch was an avid University of Georgia and SEC football fan. He also enjoyed playing golf in his earlier years.
Butch treated everyone with love and respect. He was a faithful member of the Oakey Mountain Baptist Church where he was active in Sunday School and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Butch also loved being an active participant in the Friday Morning Men’s Group at Ken Shore’s Barn, better known as “The Liars Club.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two Shetland Sheep Dogs, Hunny Bunny Davis & Scooter Davis.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pamela Loudermilk Davis; sons, Jeff, Frank, & Charlie; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his precious Siamese Cat, Gloria; nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.
To his long-time Marine Corps friend, Ditty Bop – Semper Fi & to his railroad brother, Keith Finger, Butch has made his final run.
In consideration of public health, safety, & conditions from the current pandemic, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
