Jacqueline "Jackie" Martin Thomas

Obituary Date: Friday, December 4, 2020

Jacqueline “Jackie” Martin Thomas 76, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 4th, 2020.  Jackie was born on September 23, 1944 in Ludlow, Massachusetts; the second daughter of the late Howard Henry Martin and Margaret (Johnston) Martin.  Jackie spent her early childhood years in Ludlow, MA and then moved to Fairfax, Delaware. She graduated from Brandywine High School in 1962.

She met her husband, Ted Thomas, on a blind date in 1961. Ted and Jackie were married on October 2, 1965.  They lived in Claymont, Delaware until 1972 and then relocated to Georgia where they raised their children, Brian and Lisa, in Norcross, GA and Stone Mountain, GA.  Ted and Jackie moved to Destin, FL in 1998 after Ted’s retirement.  They moved to Cumming, GA in 2012 to be closer to family and their grandchildren. 

Jackie worked for American Greetings for 10 years as an Administrative Assistant.  She enjoyed spending time on the beach where she tested her photography skills, particularly on sunsets, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren when they came to visit her in Florida. Jackie was slow to anger and quick to laugh; particularly when she was with her sisters Peggy and Dorothy.

Jackie was a member of Cumming First United Methodist Church and was active in several women’s Bible studies. She and Ted were also active in a Silver Sneakers fitness group in Cumming and enjoyed the exercise and camaraderie. 

Jackie is preceded in death by her sisters; Peggy Megee, and Dorothy Dickson.

She is survived by her husband Ted Thomas of Cumming, Georgia.

Children; Brian (Kathy) Thomas, and Lisa (fiancée Beau Stephens) Harbin.

Jackie is also survived by her eight grandchildren; Chris Kitterman, Cody Kitterman, Morgan Harbin, McKenzie Harbin, and Kaylyn Thomas, Kristina Thomas, Bradley Thomas, and Bryce Thomas, and three great grandchildren; Elizabeth, Harper, and Silas. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 8th, 2020 from 4:30pm – 6:30pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.

A private family graveside service will be held on a later date.
