Judith Alicia Eckerd Wood

Judith Alicia Eckerd Wood, age 74, of Sautee-Nacoochee, Georgia, went to her heavenly home to a grand family reunion on Monday, November 23, 2020.

She was born on June 28, 1946, in Winchester, VA, a daughter of the late G.W. (Doc) Eckerd and Minnie Greener Eckerd. She grew up in Martinsburg, WV and also lived in Arizona and Texas throughout the years.

Judy is survived by her husband, Jerry Wood; daughters, Alicia Mathias and Beth Dolan (Tony); sister, Lynne Roderick (Robbie); step-daughter, Susan Larsen (Eric); step-son, Alan Wood (Julie); grandchildren, Gavin Berry, Jacob Dolan, Matthew Dolan (Breanne), and Lauren Dolan; step-grandchildren, Sara and Emily Wood and Thomas Larsen; great-granddaughter, Arianna Anderson; and niece and nephew, Jessie Cantor and Alex Roderick. Judy is also survived by many loving cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

Judy was very proud to be a graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1964, and looked forward to getting together with her classmates for their class reunions. She kept in touch with so many classmates and often spoke fondly of them. Judy also earned her Associates Degree, at Gwinnett Technical College, in Hospitality Management.

Judy will be remembered for her huge heart, infectious laugh and smile, always a kind word to share with others, and had a great sense of style. She enjoyed going to the beach with family, reading many a good book, playing cards, sharing lunches with groups of friends, and time with her grandchildren. She liked to go “treasure hunting” at thrift stores and then lunch at Sweet Breads where she always ran in to friends. She loved her dogs, Sweat Pea, Buster, and Isabelle; her granddog, Mila; and any other pet she met.

Judy was a member of the Nacoochee Presbyterian Church, which provided her comfort, and she loved singing in the choir and playing handbells. She enjoyed living in a small community where she volunteered her time unselfishly.
 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
