Virgil Johnnie Head was called home by his Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 15th. Virgil was loved by many for his sweetness, well, unless you missed with his family. Then you were in a bad spot. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Virgil served his term in the military as a proud member of the US Air Force. He married Nancy McGiboney while proudly serving his nation. They were married on Christmas Eve in 1960. And proudly welcomed their first child, Mary, while stationed at 81st Tactical Fighting Wing in Bentwaters, England. After leaving the AF, Virgil returned to Atlanta where him and his wife welcomed their son John. Virgil worked hard to establish his family in Atlanta by first working with his father-in-law, Thomas McGiboney as a house painter. Virgil began working at A&P and continued working with his father-in-law on his days off. Virgil and Nancy completed their family by welcoming Daddy’s Little Girl, Tammy. The Head Family made many wonderful memories over the years.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents John C and Ora M Head. His brother James, nephew David, and sister-in-law Charlene (Richard). Virgil is survived by his wife of almost 60-years, Nancy. His daughter Mary, son-in-law Mike, and their children David & Michael. His son John and Daughter Tammy. His siblings, Sonny, Richard, Louis (his wife Patti), and Hazel. And many nieces and nephews.
