Scott Homer (Pop) Culpepper

Obituary Date: Monday, November 16, 2020

Scott Homer Culpepper (Pop), age 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2020, after a brief illness. In the words of his niece, Dana Kinney, “He lived his whole life for this moment.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He passionately loved Jesus and his family.

He served in the Air Force from June ’51-June ’54. He worked in construction for many years with H.C. Beck, until the Lord called him to be a pastor full time in 1988 at Sardis Baptist Church.

None have ever surpassed his servant’s heart. He loved fiercely and with a passion that came from his Savior. If you knew him, you couldn’t help but be drawn in by his love.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ann Culpepper.  He vowed to love, honor, and cherish her until death parted them, and he held true to that promise. His only child, Wanda (Husband Eddie), was the apple of his eye. He adored her as only a father can. His 3 grandchildren, Christa Cook (husband Clay), Jeremy Scoggins (wife Lupita), and Carrie Ann Byers (husband Joel). Great-Grandchildren Jordan Sherrill (Husband Jason), Josiah Byers, Noah Byers, Sofia Scoggins, Alexa Scoggins and his brother Jack Culpepper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Nelle Culpepper. Also, his second father, Raymond Culpepper. His sisters, Gladys Smelley, and Dot Kinney, his brother J.D. Culpepper. He was a member of Sinnerpoint Baptist Fellowship, and the family asks in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the church building fund. 4960 Flat Creek Road Oakwood, Ga. 30566.

Funeral services will be held Thursday November 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Jeremy Scoggins and Rev. Larry Youngblood will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lamar Purcell officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic social distancing will need to be observed for everyone’s health and safety and mask are recommended.
