Rev. Cleve Allen, age 88 of Clarkesville, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on August 1, 1932, he was a son of the late Cleveland Allen and Bertha Sims Allen Nix. Rev. Allen was co-owner of Big A Monument Company for many years. He was retired from pastoring after preaching and evangelizing all over the Southeast for approximately 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loving every day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Stockton Allen; brother, Harold C. Allen; sister, June Goss.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria Jean Thompson Allen of Clarkesville; son and companion, Gary Allen & Rosita Galloway of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda & Gary Worley of Baldwin and Gail & Jerry Thomas of Fairview; grandchildren and spouses, Jason & Rhonda Stamey of Cornelia, Kasey & Melissa Allen of Cornelia, Kelley & Mike Duncan of Baldwin, Laura Thomas of Fairview and Jennifer Thomas of Sautee; great grandchildren, Nate Stamey, Lexie Hansen, Taylor Allen, EJ Thomas, Zeb Duncan and Zach Duncan; mother-in-law, Virgie Thompson of Hodgenville, Kentucky; step son and spouse, Brian & Lisa Bean of Burkesville, Kentucky; step daughter and spouse, Robin & Matt King of Hodgenville, Kentucky; step grandchildren, Josh Groce, Myaleigha Bean and Haley King; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am, Friday, November 20, 2020 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Danny O’Kelley and Dr. James Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Demorest City Cemetery with Rev. Jason Stamey and Rev. Telford Tanksley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
