Wansley Watson, 92, a lifelong resident of Forsyth County passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020. Wansley was a “cut-up” and champion Rook player. He loved working in his vegetable garden, growing watermelons and raising his cows and chickens. Wansley was a member of Freedom Tabernacle. He is preceded in death by his parents, Toy and Electie Watson; a brother and sister-in-law, Eldred and Mattie Watson; and a sister-in-law, Pat Watson.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Lindell Watson; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Brenda Watson; daughter and son-in-law, Reta and Charles Mathis; grandchildren, Donna and Lynn Wages, Robbie and Jill Mathis, Dee and Chad Mathis, Nathan and Kerri Mathis; 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for the family will be held at Sawnee View Gardens with his grandson, Rev. Robbie Mathis officiating. A celebration of his life will be held at Freedom Tabernacle at a later date.
