Sarah Jane (Sally) Roehm passed away at the age of 87 on November 8, 2020.
Sally is survived by her beloved husband, Harper Roehm, of Cumming, GA; her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Randy Watson of Buford, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Harper Jr. (Drew) and Michelle Roehm, of Kernersville, NC; her grandchildren, Randall, Ryan and Alexandra (Allie); her sister- and brother-in-law, Elsa and Galen Gongwer, of Normal, IL; and treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two cherished sisters, Mary Albright and Barbara Roemer.
Sally was born in Indiana on March 23, 1933, to Carl and Mildred (Millie) Roemer. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University and subsequently put her love of educating children to work as a kindergarten teacher in Richmond, IN. After she and Harper welcomed Drew and Jane into their family, she shifted her considerable talents to work at home as a full-time mother. In later years, Sally became a devoted grandmother, spending countless hours reading, singing and laughing with Randall, Ryan and Allie.
Many will remember Sally as a true Renaissance individual. She and Harper traveled extensively, and she was known among family and friends as a talented singer, dancer and painter, as well as a master of crossword puzzles and pub trivia.
Sally will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life service will take place on a later date.
