Henry Bryant Brown

Mr. Henry Bryant Brown, age 94 of Letourneau Drive, Toccoa passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at the Stephens County Hospital.

A son of the late Franklin and Mary Plummer Brown, he was born November 25, 1925 in Brooks, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was retired from WABCO with 40 years of service and later retired from Lockheed. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II. He was the oldest member of Carnes Creek Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Director, R.A. Director, and a member of the Brotherhood, having prepared breakfast for the Brotherhood Group for some 70 years. He was a member of Mason Lodge 309 for 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Geneva Brown and by his second wife, Merle Brown and by two sons-in-law, Terry Smith and Chris Payne.

Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Sandra and Larry Carlan, Jeanette Smith and Pamela Payne all of Toccoa; two step-sons, Nathan Witcher of Danielsville, Georgia and Rondale Witcher of Texas; six grandchildren, Kevin Herron, Courtney and Lee McFarlin, Marty Smith, Kristen and T.J. Evans, Marie Payne and Nathan and Kayla Payne; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Mamie Lou Vickery of Griffin, Georgia.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 11, 2020, 2 O’clock p.m. at the Carnes Creek Baptist Church with The Reverend Jay Mosser and The Reverend Dr. Tim Miller officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and should assemble at the funeral home by 1:00 p.m., Gary Booth, Ron Barker, Joe Whitworth, Steve Fulbright, Kenneth Garrett and Jerry Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke McFarlin and Lawson McFarlin.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon until time to leave for the service. Due to the health and well-being of our community, social distancing must be observed. Masks are encouraged but not required. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Flowers are to be omitted. Memorials may be made to Stephens County Gideons, P.O. Box 663, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 or to the Carnes Creek Baptist Church, 1655 Carnes Creek Road, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Mr. Henry Bryant Brown.

Interment will follow in the Carnes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Henry Bryant Brown.
