Dr. Ronald Ray Hicks, 77, of Duluth, Georgia passed away at home on November 2, 2020. Ron was born on August 27 in Nashville, TN, the son of Ray and Gracie Hicks. He attended The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and then went on to complete dental school at UT-Memphis. He served his country and was an officer in the US Navy stationed at Quantico, VA. He was one of the first dentists in Gwinnett County and practiced dentistry for almost 30 years.
His greatest accomplishments all centered around his family. Being with them brought Ron his greatest joy. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and attended everything they participated in and enjoyed. He became an ordained minister in order to officiate the weddings of two of his nephews. He loved to travel, enjoyed hosting teams, Sunday School classes and friends at Lake Hartwell and enjoyed relaxing with his family at Lake Oconee. He is well-known for his jokes and great sense of humor.
He was a member of Campus Church for 45 years. His legacy of faith is carried on by his children and grandchildren whom he adored.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; Ray and Gracie Hicks and his brother William Gary Hicks. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Janet Smith Hicks. Children; Kelly Hicks Brooks (Scott), Jeffrey Blaine Hicks (Sherriann) and Shay Hicks Correa (Alex), 12 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, sister Kimberly Hicks Brown (John), sister-in-law Lea Trendleman Hicks and many extended family members.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, November 7th 11:00 am EST at Campus Church 1575 Indian Trail Road, Norcross. The family will greet visitors after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Georgia Agape, Atlanta Inner-city Ministry (AIM), Youth Reach International or Greater Atlanta Christian School.
