Mrs. Velvia Mae Davis, age 92, of Dahlonega passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020.
She was born on April 13, 1928 in Dawsonville, Georgia to the late Grady Bearden and the late Bevelene Strickland Bearden. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker who loved her family unconditionally. She could often be found tending to her garden and putting up food to feed her family of five. She was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
In addition to both parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Bud Davis; son, Harmon Davis; siblings, Monnie Adams, Dorsey Bearden, Doc Bearden, and JV “Peewee” Bearden; and grandson, Jason Caldwell.
She is survived by her children, Mildred (Stanley) Caldwell, and Bonnie (Jay) Cantrell; grandchildren, Brett (Kim) Caldwell, Robin Davis, and Jamie Rider; great-grandchildren, Griffin Caldwell, Landon Caldwell, Henley Caldwell, and Ashley (Jodie) Truelove; and great-great-grandchildren, Kennidee Truelove, Peyton Truelove and Weston Truelove, all of Dahlonega. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and also from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM prior to the service on Monday. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell and the Rev. Steve Barrett will officiate. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Davis Chapel.
