Grady Eugene “Gene” Brooks, Sr

Grady Eugene “Gene” Brooks, Sr., age 90 of Gainesville, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.       

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Gainesville First Church of the Nazarene, 1301 Otilla Drive, Gainesville, GA 30504 with Reverend Gary Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.     

Mr. Brooks was born May 28, 1930 in Chicopee, Georgia to Andrew Jackson Brooks and Edith Ann Aaron Brooks. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1968 with a business degree and worked in the accounting field before he found his love in truck driving with Compete Auto Transit. He and his wife, Martha, owned and operated Brooks Tax Service for many years. He was a charter member of Gainesville First Church of the Nazarene and loved attending church and loved his church family. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Ann Peck Brooks; his son, Grady Eugene Brooks, Jr.; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.   

Mr. Brooks is survived by his daughter, Wanda Finney of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew “Andy” and Susan Brooks of Oakwood; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Faith Brooks of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jeff Brooks, Karen Brooks Brown, Donald Finney, Kevin and Natallia Finney, Courtney Brooks, Randy and Maria Brooks, Zack and Allison Brooks; 4 great grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Gainesville First Church of the Nazarene in memory of Gene.
