Benny Ray "B.R." Holcomb

Benny Ray “B.R.” Holcomb age 87 of Gillsville entered heaven Wednesday October 21, 2020 at his residence.

B.R. was born in Gillsville February 12, 1933 to the late Ray & Mae West Holcomb. He was retired from general Motors Company. B. R. enjoyed making face jugs for Hewell’s Pottery and making boiled peanuts at the Turning & Burning Festival. He loved sitting on the bench in Gillsville with all the regular’s catching up on all the news. He was a mason and a deacon of Gillsville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherrie Laree Holcomb; brother, L.G. Holcomb; sisters, Louise House& Mildred Hughes. He always looked forward to his daily visits with his 13 great grand kids and was looking forward to number 14.

He leaves behind his loving family, wife of 63 years, Barbara Sue Holcomb; son, Jeff (Becky) Holcomb; daughters, Kathy (Keith) Segars & Sharon (Joe) Carter; grandkids which he adored, Dustin (Ashley) Carter, Brittany (Jerod) Whitlock, Corey (Shea) Carter, Brandon (Erin) Holcomb, Hailey (Russell) Clay, Zach (Sydney) Segars, Nolan (Carly) Carter & Allison (Trevor) Ryals; 13 great grandkids also survive along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday Oct. 23, 2020 at the Gillsville Baptist Church with Rev. Shannon Rhodes, Rev. Bill Calhoun & Rev. Jeff Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Gillsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 6-8 Thursday at the funeral home. B.R. will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday.
