Barbara Ferris Duckworth

Barbara Ferris Duckworth age 78 of Dahlonega passed away on October 12, 2020. Mrs. Duckworth was a previous resident of Loganville, Georgia. She was a Registered Nurse with The Visiting Nurse Association for 33 years and held a Masters in Administrative Health.   Barbara started and was responsible for the Gwinnet County office for VNA, as well as launched many VNA offices in other counties.  She was a dedicated nurse that touched many lives. Barbara was also a loving and supportive mother and grandmother.  She was known for her lively personality and sense of humor.  Barbara was a big fan of ballroom dancing and enjoyed dancing whenever she got the opportunity.  Until recent years, she never missed the annual reunion dance held by O’Keefe High School in Atlanta. Barbara was avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Duckworth is preceded in death by her parents Marlin Storey & Katherine Smith Storey. She is survived by her children Paul Lanier Groover, Jr. of Dunnsville, Virginia and Katherine Michele Messer of Dahlonega, Georgia, brother Larry Storey, grandchildren Catherine “Cassie” Bailey Groover, Paul Bennett “Ben” Groover, Grey Wulff Messer, and Hunter William Messer.

Family will receive friends on Saturday October 24, 2020 from 12-2pm with a memorial service being held at 2pm in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home.
