Mrs. Eloise Northcutt Davis died peacefully at home on October 11, 2020 at the age of 97.
Born April 19, 1923 in Statesboro, Georgia to Sam A. and Claudia Northcutt, Eloise and her family moved to Toccoa when she was just a teen and she has been a vital part of her church, civic organizations and schools over a period of 60 years. Her career began during World War II at LeTourneau Plant as a government inspector of the artillery shells manufactured in the mid 40’s. There she met and later married the late H.T. Davis who passed away in 2009.
Eloise, better known as “Weezie” is survived by her two children, Gary T. Davis and his wife Barbara of Martin and Janice Davis Robertson and her husband Dan of Jackson, Georgia. A natural leader, she was known to be head of the family. When she walked into a room, everyone knew who was in charge and that things were going to get done, but her greatest love was time spent with her grandchildren: Kimberly Sweat, Richard Davis, Christy Hayes and Meg Shackelford who blessed her with seven great-grandchildren.
“Weezie’s” career included working with her father at Northcutt’s Master Dry Cleaners as a seamstress. From there, she worked as Office Manager for Tugalo Construction for many years until she and her husband, H.T. began a Real Estate Appraisal Business. She volunteered as a Cub Scout Pack Leader, an Eastern Star Officer, a member of the First Baptist Church serving as a Sunday School Teacher and involved in other civic work.
