Virginia Burnette

Mrs. Virginia Burnette, age 88, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, October 12, 2020.

Mrs. Burnette was born in Jackson County on November 27, 1931 to the late Guy and Emma Bennett Pruitt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband H. B. Burnette. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and was always bringing a smile while cutting up and making everyone in her family laugh. Virginia’s best act to get a smile was asking her family to join her in the “chicken dance”. From fishing, and days at the deer camp, to making homemade biscuits, her love was always present with her family. Virginia was known as “Mawmaw” by her grandchildren who loved her very much. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children Wayne and Lisa Burnette, Dawsonville, GA, Shelia and Joe Heard, Dawsonville, GA, Doug and Jana Burnette, Dahlonega, GA, and Nita and Tracy Thomas, Dahlonega, GA; sister Barbara Burnette, Cumming; grandchildren, Eric and Jody Burnette, Kim and Dennis Roland, Karrie and Stan King, Bradley Heard, Kacie and Shawn Boyd, Jessica Burnette, Courtney Adams, Savannah and Matt Driskell, Carla Woron, Bobby Woron, Nicholas Thomas, and Megan Self; great-grandchildren, Cody Burnette and Jessica, Levi Burnette, Trey Burnette, Ella Grace Roland, Presley Sikes, Virgil Woron, Avery Woron, Alyssa Woron, Griffin King, Grayson King, Ellis Heard, Asher Heard, Copeland Boyd, Sadler Boyd, Branson Boyd, Ansley Burnette, Mason Burnette, Addison Anderson, Jase Anderson, Austin Anderson, Misty Adams, and Trent Adams; great-great-grandbaby Peyton Burnette; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.    

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Mickey Wheeler, the Rev. Terry Head, and Levi Burnette will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday and 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
