Loy Edward Anderson

Obituary Date: Monday, October 12, 2020

Mr. Loy Edward Anderson, age 93, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, October 12, 2020.

Mr. Anderson was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on March 10, 1927 to the late James Arthur and Ada Grizzle Anderson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Stanley Wayne Anderson, and all of his siblings and their spouses Elmer Anderson (Willie Mae), Claude Anderson, J.D. Anderson (Bonnell), Mae Gillespie (Dee), Fannie Lou Early (Charlie), Blanche Grindle (Fred), and Evelyn Anderson (Glad).

There were three things that made Mr. Anderson the man that he was. First, his strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Mr. Anderson was an elder deacon and the longest serving deacon at Cavenders Creek Baptist Church. He dedicated himself to the Lord’s work through the ministry of the church. Second, his military career in The United States Navy. Mr. Anderson proudly served his country and was honorably discharged after his service. He gladly worked alongside his fellow soldiers in New Guinea during World War II. Mr. Anderson was very proud to serve his country. Third, his family that he loved very much. Mr. Anderson was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. To best describe him would be to say that he was the most humble, God fearing, and God loving man you might ever get to meet.

Survivors include his wife of seventy two years, Irene Conner Anderson; daughter and boyfriend Martha Anderson Singleton and Win Carnell; daughter and son-in-law Laura and Rick Allen, all of Dahlonega; daughter-in-law Anita Thacker; grandchildren Leslie Francisco, and Connor Allen; great-grandchildren Liam Cole, Serena Cole, and Jillian Francisco; several nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives; and his beloved Cavenders Creek Baptist Church family.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to Mr. Anderson’s special caregiver Deb Page, and Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s nurses Julie, Dakota, and Rebecca.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Cavenders Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Stephen Adams will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy.

While attending the service strict social distancing and masks are required.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Cavenders Creek Baptist Church, P.O. Box 549, Dahlonega, GA 30533 or Hospice of Northeast Georgia, 743 Spring Street, Gainesville, GA 30501.
