Margarita Mercedes Paz Miller

Mrs. Margarita Mercedes Paz Miller, of Dacula, GA, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was born February 17, 1936 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to the late Jose Antonio Paz and Francia Paz.

Margarita was a graduate of the Colegio Santo Domingo. After high school, she attended Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan. She began her career in New York City, NY, and then returned to the Dominican Republic where she worked as an administrative assistant for the United States Agency for International Development. She married in 1965, taught at various American International schools around the world and dedicated the remainder of her life to her family and volunteering for her community, specifically several years spent assisting doctors in the library at Baptist Hospital of Miami. She loved watching football and golf, spoiling her kids and grandkids and music and dancing.

She is predeceased by her husband, F. Brett Miller, and is survived by daughters, Brenda (Dan) Monroe of Lancaster, SC, Donna Louise Miller of Hendersonville, TN; sons, F. Brett II (Danielle) Miller of Hendersonville, TN, Donald A. (Lori) Miller of Braselton, GA; grandchildren, Andrea de Ugarte, Matthew M. Miller, Andrew A. Miller, Jenna E. Miller, Emma P. Miller, Chase A. Miller; and great-grandchildren, Anna Leigh de Ugarte-Fernanders, Ava Bella Fernanders, Layla Fernanders.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 7 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 6 – 7 PM at the funeral home.
