Mrs. Mary Louise Cummings Deforest, age 68 of Ellen Court, Toccoa passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Landmark Hospital in Athens.
A daughter of the late Joe A. and Mary Jones Cummings, she was born January 26, 1952 in Lake Providence, Louisiana, having lived in Stephens County for 26 years. She was a retired nursing assistant with Stephens County Hospital. She was a pastor’s wife, having served with her husband, the late Rev. Danny Ray Deforest who pastored churches for some 10 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Danny Deforest in 2016 and by a daughter, Rebecca Deforest.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Katy and Michael Wilson of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, Jamon and Crystal Deforest of Mt. Airy; seven grandchildren, Grace, Lydia, Adalyn, Anna, Lilly, Julie and George; brother, Joe Cummings of Monroe, Louisiana; two sisters, Debbie Cummings and Wanda Piece both of Oak Grove, Louisiana; a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 7, 2020, 2 O’clock p.m. at the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the The Reverend Scott Collett officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon until time to leave for the service. Due to the current heath and well-being of our community, social distancing must be observed. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Mary Cummings Deforest.
