William Hoyt "Buzz" Simmons

Rev. William Hoyt “Buz” Simmons, age 75 of Clarkesville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 04, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 19, 1944, he was a son of the late Hoyt Young Simmons & Lola Ann Crook. Buz worked as a machinist for over 25 years with Stork-Gam Co. of Gainesville, Georgia and pastored several local churches in the area. He also served as Principal of Lakeview Christian School and Habersham Christian Academy. Buz enjoyed farming, especially riding his tractor and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister & brother-in-law, June Simmons Allison & David Allison; brothers-in-law, William Howard McClure & Jimmy Woods; & sister-in-law, Lisa McClure.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Wilma Joan McClure Simmons of Clarkesville, GA; daughters & sons-in-law, Angela Lynn & Anthony Hooker of Mayesville, GA; Amy Denise & John F. Moon of Clarkesville, GA; brothers & sisters-in-law, Gary Lane & Melinda Simmons of Woodstock, GA; Lamar Young & Pat Simmons of Gainesville, GA; Dale Irvin & Ann-Sofi Simmons of Alto, GA; Alan Eugene & Lillian Lynn Simmons of Louisiana; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Barbara Jean McClure Wade & Dwight Wade of Maysville, GA; Alma Rumelle McClure Woods of Commerce, GA; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, James Melvin & Reba McClure of Commerce, GA; grandchildren, Megan Rose Moon; John Avery Moon; Andrew Hooker; Kyle & Sarah Hooker; Daniel Hooker; Elizabeth Hooker; great-grandchildren, Sadie Hooker & Ayden Eash; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 07, 2020 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Anthony Hooker officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
