Russell William McCall was born October 9, 1950 to Mary Bolton and Dr. Moses Nathanial McCall, Jr. in Acworth, Georgia, one of six children. He died suddenly at home on September 16, 2020.
He graduated from Acworth High School and attended Kennesaw Community College. Russell was an environmentalist for Dekalb County Board of Health, retiring after 34 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, always fishing and hunting. He loved collecting antiques and had a small antique business for years.
Russell was one of the most unique individuals you would ever hope to meet. He was energetic, brilliant, creative, and kind. He wrote long narratives and poetry on many subjects. His stream of conscious diatribes were insightful, humorous and poignant. He was generous, fun loving and an adored husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. Russell was always thinking of others before himself. He was an encouragement to many recovering from addictions. He helped people over many walks of life and was a motivator to all!! He was a believer of Jesus Christ and lived a life so that all could see his faith.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Nancy Fletcher McCall; his brothers Ham McCall, Murl McCall; his sisters, Sue McCall Camp and Claire McCall. He is also survived by Clif Murphey, who was a son to Russell. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Moses McCall.
A Graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd at noon at Liberty Hill Cemetery Acworth,Ga. street parking only
