Jose Angel Guzman

Jose Angel Guzman, 78, formerly of Erie, Michigan, passed away on September 11th, 2020 at the home of his daughter in Buford, Georgia surrounded by family.

A private service will be held at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens on September 18th, 2020 at 11am with Chaplin Danny Park officiating.

Jose was born in Houston, Texas to Felipe and Maria Guzman on October 23rd, 1941. He was a devoted husband, father, son, uncle, brother in-law, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was kind, funny and hard working. A Deerfield High School graduate where he was a star football player. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1961. He was self-employed as a carpet installer for many years before he retired as a technician for Terminex in Toledo, Ohio. He was a family man who loved and adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He met his wife Gloria in 1965 and married in 1967 in Erie, Michigan and enjoyed 52 years of marriage. He has three children who he instilled strong family values and good work ethic. In 2013, he and his wife moved to Georgia which allowed him to enjoy spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, walking, bike riding, dancing, playing pool, going to the casino and watching his favorite teams Michigan State Spartans, Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers.

Jose is preceded in death by his father, Felipe Guzman and mother, Maria Guzman, brothers Armando Guzman and Tony Guzman, and son in law Terrence Spires. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, daughters Christina Spires, Angela (Rodney) Jenkins and son Miguel (Angie) Guzman. Grandchildren Marissa, Eleni, Justin, Zack, Nick, Vincente, Alyssa and Alexis. Great grandchildren Ayden and Aaleyah. Brothers Felipe, John and sister Maria and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to Homestead Hospice (10888 Crabapple Rd., Roswell, GA 30075) and Alzheimer’s Association. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all family and friends for your outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. May Jose rest in peace.
