Jeanette Dyer Burch

Obituary Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2020

Jeanette Dyer Burch, age 95, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, passed away on September 8, 2020.

Jean was born the daughter of the late Jasper Dyer and the late Samantha Hampton Dyer on August 12, 1925. In her professional life she worked as a postmaster for the United States Postal Service for the Rabun Gap Post Office. She was a member of the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church, and there she served the Lord in many ways. She served as the church pianist for many years and worked with the Children’s Choir. She taught Sunday school, served on almost all church committees and avidly supported the Women of the Church and their missions. For many years Jean mailed bulletins and other church information to shut-ins, and was the contact person for the church’s prayer chain. One special project was helping pack and deliver boxes to the community during the holidays.  Her loving and caring footprints could be found wherever and whenever there was a need, through food, prayers, calls and cards. She always took the time to make sure that all who wanted to go to church would have a way to get there.  She was an inspiration and an example of a kind, loving, caring, Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, woman, and was a friend to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents and siblings, her husband, James David Burch Sr., preceded her in death.

Her survivors include her sons, James David Burch Jr. (Rita), of Linden, Tennessee, George Henry Burch (Judy), of Suches, Georgia, Danny Scott Burch (Judy), of Tiger, Georgia, Michael Gene Burch (Ana), of Auburn, Alabama; her daughter, Martha Dale Quinn (David), of Acworth, Georgia; six grandchildren, Kim Fitzgibbons, Fawn Beale, Justin Burch, Jenee’ Burt, James Burch, Angie Burch; six great-grandchildren, Christian Beale, Kayleigh Beale, Quinn Fitzgibbons, Justin Burch Jr., Tori Burt, Rohan Burt.

Due to the pandemic our nation is currently facing, a private family service will be held.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Music Program P.O. Box 184 Dillard, Georgia 30537.
