It is with profound sadness that the family of Billie “Bill” Joe Naivar, 88, of Cleveland, GA, passed away August 27, 2020. He was born August 20, 1932 to Willie H. Naivar and Frances Rose Grossman Naivar in Crosby, Texas. He married Joyce Elaine Dixon on January 11, 1953. Bill is survived by his beloved wife Joyce, son William “Bill” Naivar Jr, daughter Joyce Nanette Cookson, daughter-in-law Cindy Locke Naivar, grandson William “Trey” Naivar III and his wife Lisa Brandenburg Naivar, great granddaughter Aria Nicole Naivar, and great grandson William “Liam” Naivar IV. He was preceded in death by bothers Lygie Naivar and Bob Naivar, father Willie and mother Frances.
Bill worked for the Texas Highway Department Travel Information Center for 36 years. He and his wife moved from Orange, Texas to Georgia in 1997 to be closer to family, especially their grandson and later the great grand children that he was so proud of.
Family was always very important to Bill as he was to the family.
Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, Georgia; he enjoyed reading, and watching football especially the Dallas Cowboys and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
There will be a memorial service held at the First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, Georgia on Thursday September 3, 2020 at 11:00 am at the picnic area. Please bring lawn chairs and wear mask to maintain social distancing.
