Bernice Evelyn Waddell Meeks

Bernice Evelyn Waddell Meeks, age 89 of Clarkesville, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020.

 Born in Rabun County on May 21, 1931, Mrs. Meeks was the daughter of the late William E. and Hattie Mae Nicholson Waddell.  Mrs. Meeks was a lifelong resident of Habersham County and was a retired seamstress from Kent Studio and she was a member of Hills Crossing Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, baking and decorating cakes, and spending time with her loving family.  In to her parents, Mrs. Meeks is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Odell Meeks, son Ronald Meeks, brothers Willie J. Waddell, Jerry P. Waddell, Charles Waddell, O’Nell Waddell and sister Ruth Stallings.

 Survivors include son and daughter in law William “Bill” and Cathy Meeks of Clarkesville, son Jonathan Meeks of Duluth, daughter in law Donna Meeks of Hollywood, sister Lois Waddell Ward of Rome, sisters in law Ann Tallent of Clarkesville, Kathryn Bradford of Cornelia and Jackie Waddell of Georgetown, as well as seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and a host of extended family.

 Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Hills Crossing Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Walter Singletary officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1:00 PM until the service.
