Harold Lang

Obituary Date: Sunday, August 16, 2020

Harold Lang, 99, of Griffin, Ga passed away on Saturday August 16, 2020 at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Harold was born August 27, 1920 to parents Harold A. Lang Sr. and Lena Leota (Koons). He grew up in Tulsa Oklahoma where he graduated from high school. He volunteered for service in World War II. He was proud and pleased to serve as a P-38 pilot in the 27th Squadron of the Air Corp flying 58 missions in the European Theater. 

He earned the commission of Captain and was awarded the Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the Distinguish Flying Cross.   

When he returned home, he married Helen Lee (Jackson). They had one son Stephen Lang. By way of the G.I. Bill Harold earned a degree in engineering from Spartan School of Aeronautics’ Tulsa Oklahoma. He worked for Rockwell where he retired after 25 years. In 1987 he married Gladys (Brizendine) Cliatt and they moved to Gainesville, Georgia.

Harold Lang is preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy (Lang) Pasley , wife Gladys Lang and step son Michael. He is survived by his son Stephen, sister Jean (Lang) Covey, 2 stepsons William and Richard, 3 step granddaughters, 2 great step grandsons and 1 great step granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Red Cross. Harold is to be buried at the Arlington Memorial Park Atlanta Georgia.
